This article has a number of confusing points:

  • Why are we linearizing at all?
  • State vs input vs other variables? This does not need to be introduced here.
  • Deviation variables vs just linearizing around a point.

Also it is unclear if some of the material is too similar to Bequette's text. I can't find a match, but the Bequette text may need to be rewritten.

Hi, I'm a 3rd chemical engineering student from India. I'd like to know if this wonderful text is open for editing, or if it's restricted to students of the Univ of michigan.
