ENDOTHERMIC
Steam Pressure as MV Notice that there are two controllers that are responsible for adjusting the steam valve. The pressure controller is sensitive to changes in the heat duty required by the reactor and is used to adjust the steam according to these needs. There is also a temperature controller present on product stream which will in most cases be a secondary controller and provides some redundancy in the system.
Steam Flowrate as MV Again, there are two controllers responsible for one valve. In this case, however, the temperature of the product stream is responsible for changes in the opening or closing of the valve. The flow sensor located on the steam feed is used to maintain the desired setpoint of the valve.
