How should the book be used in the future?

Some options are:

  • Use the text as just a textbook for a "traditional" course on controls in the future. This would result in a frozen version of the text that would not be further updated, and result in a more lecture oriented class.
  • Throw out the text and recreate a new one from scratch. This would maximize the learning benefits for the next batch of students, but would also nullify much of the work done by the current 2006 class.
  • Edit or extend the text by future classes. This may involve letting students edit the existing pages, or rewriting certain ones. This approach could also allow students to add in new chapters.

What do you think? Which would you feel most comfortable with?

Despite the fact that next year's class could benefit from the writting experience, I hate the idea of throwing out everything we have put together. I'd also like this site to remain up for us to refer to as a resource for 487 and possibly our first jobs. The wiki's aren't perfect, of course, so it wouldn't hurt if a future class continued to edit them and add more examples.
